Villa Fyn

Lake Como. The project is set within a landscape of exceptional character, defined by a direct and continuous relationship with the shoreline of Lake Como.

The intervention transforms an existing detached villa into two independent, mirrored residences, reinterpreting the original volumes through a contemporary architectural language and a carefully considered relationship with the surrounding landscape.

Both residences are designed to maximise exposure, natural light and views across the lake. Expansive glazed surfaces enhance the continuity between interior and exterior spaces, while a system of sun-shading elements modulates daylight and introduces rhythm and depth to the façades, creating an architectural expression that evolves throughout the day.

Materiality plays a central role in the project. Stone-clad walls visually anchor the building to the terrain, offering a contemporary interpretation of the traditional retaining walls associated with the local building culture and the legacy of the Maestri Comacini.

The direct relationship with the water becomes an integral part of the living experience. Privacy, comfort and openness to the landscape coexist within spaces designed to enhance wellbeing, natural light and a constant connection with nature.

The landscape design follows the same principle of continuity with the site. Existing mature trees are preserved, while the terrain is shaped into gentle terraces that descend naturally towards the shoreline.

A shared infinity pool, complemented by a natural timber sun deck, becomes part of the landscape composition, creating a subtle transition between architecture and nature, private areas, shared spaces and the waterfront.

Architecture, interior design, materiality and landscape come together to create a measured and contemporary residential experience, deeply rooted in the identity of the place and in a culture of detail.
